Paulo Ferreira is certain that former Portuguese national colleague Cristiano Ronaldo can play football actively until he is 40. Paulo Ferreira talked about Ronaldo and his incredible fitness level in an interview with Goal.
Paulo Ferreira said he played with and against Ronaldo from the time he was still a teenager and that the Juventus talisman deserves all the things he has achieved in his football career. He expects him to play football actively for four or five years more until his body can no longer cope with the demands.
Ex-Blues right-back Ferreira has been impressed with the performances from Ronaldo even in the twilight of his career. He played with the former Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United and Real Madrid player in the national team until he retired in 2010. Paulo Ferreira then played for three more years before ending his career at Chelsea in 2013.
Ferreira spent nine years at Chelsea before retiring from football and he has been a coach at the club since then. He moved to Chelsea from FC Porto in the summer of 2004. The ex-Portuguese international followed Jose Mourinho from Porto alongside Ricardo Carvalho. The three Portuguese had been influential for FC Porto as they won both the UEFA Cup in 2003 and the UEFA Champions League in 2004 before moving to West London.
The Portuguese trio of Mourinho, Ferreira and Carvalho will continue their winning streak at Chelsea as they won back-to-back Premier League titles together before left the club on the back of the disagreement with owner Roman Abramovich.
